Il dipinto è accompagnato da una perizia in copia di Godfridus Johannes Hoogewerff, datata 9 dicembre 1944. Lo studioso riconosce l'opera come autentica e caratteristica di Cornelis de Vos (Hulst 1585 - Anversa 1651) e cita come termine di confronto il Ritratto dell'artista con la moglie e i suoi figli, eseguito intorno al 1634, oggi a San Pietroburgo, Museo dell'Hermitage.
