Porcellana Imari, metà del XIX secolo
Imari porcelain plate, middle 19th Century, with a geographical stilized representation of Japan, the Islands and the bordering countries, with the indication of the names of the Provinces, inside glass case, 24 x 29,5 x 4 cm (plate size).
On the back, handwritten in Japanese characters: “produced during the Tenpò reign (1830-1843) in Imari”.
It is very similar, but of a slightly different size, to a pottery plate from Imari preserved at the Namban Bunkakan Museum of Osaka. As most part of the Japanese geographical maps of the Fondo Orientale of the Società Geografica Italiana the plate is a gift from Cristoforo Robecchi.
